Metro offers a variety of online learning courses from two different course providers: Ed2Go and UGotClass. Each provider offers different learning modalities as described below.
Ed2go offers courses with two learning modalities, instructor led and self-paced. Instructor-moderated courses are for students who prefer a structured learning pace with instructor guidance. Courses feature an instructor-moderated discussion board, so the student can interact with the session cohort. Important: Instructor-moderated courses are not face-to-face online meetings with an instructor teaching in real-time or recorded time. Lessons are gated and released biweekly on Wednesdays and Fridays. Course access is approximately 6 weeks and the estimated time commitment for completion is 24 hours. Self-guided courses are for students who prefer to learn at their own pace and are comfortable with independent learning. Students gain access to all course material, quizzes and the final exam at the time of enrollment. Course access is 3 months and the estimated time commitment for completion is 24 hours.
UGotClass offers courses with one style of learning: Instructor led. There are no live real-time requirements or meetings, rather you will access online readings, listen to an audio presentation for the unit and view slides, take a self-quiz to see how much you have learned and engage in written online discussion/chat with your instructor and other participants. The online classroom is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and course content and self-quizzes are accessible for the entire course, so you can work ahead or go back and review. Estimated time commitment for completion: One course - 16 hours over 1 month; Certificate (3 courses) - 48 hours over 3 months.
